Teaching

Prior to joining the department, I worked as a surgical trainee in Hong Kong for a few years. In preparation for the membership examination of the Royal College of Surgeons of England , I attended training in anatomy in the College in London . Inspired by the clinical anatomists in the College I made a huge decision in 2009 to switch from surgical practice to the academia in pursuit of my interest in teaching clinical anatomy. I relish in presenting intricate three-dimensional anatomical concepts in the most concise and comprehensible manner. Recognition from students is a driving force of innovation for me.

Research

Research is as important as teaching. Just like the study of human bodies which is the fundamental of medical practice, medical law and ethics now underlies the foundation of medical professionalism. It has been said that anatomists should have the responsibility of teaching medical professionalism to medical students because we open the opportunities for students to meet their very first patients, the cadavers. I share this philosophy. Over the years our department have actively participated in the teaching of medical ethics in the faculty. Because of my fascination with the rule of law and medical law and ethics in particular, I have taken a step further to devote myself to researches in the field of medical law and ethics. I am now reading for a master of laws degree in medical law and ethics in the University of Edinburgh . Currently I am working on projects studying, amongst others, advance directives and the duty of medical practitioners to a third party.
